This is an incredible opportunity to join a thriving church in the heart of Los Angeles and be trained and equipped in 'word and spirit' missional ministry and leadership.
Vintage Church Pastoral Residency is a one to two year dynamic ‘word and spirit’ training experience, preparing people for church planting either within or outside of the Vintage community, in Los Angeles or around the world.
Members of Vintage who feel called to ministry
Current church leaders who are looking to grow in a ‘word and spirit’ setting before planting a church
Seminary graduates looking to be trained and sent out to plant a church
Since there is no one-size-fits-all mold when it comes to doing pastoral ministry or church leadership, we expect our residents to be diverse. Everyone has different gifts and abilities, and what we strive to do through the pastoral residency program is to bring out and strengthen those gifts in young, humble and courageous leaders.
Our residents must demonstrate a committed, growing relationship with Christ, experience in, or hunger for, word and spirit ministry, and a track record of responsibility and service to the church. We also want to see humility and a strong desire to learn, servant leadership, as well as alignment with the theology, vision and values of Vintage Church.
We generally expect our residents to have, or be willing to start foundational theological training. Please do not let the fact that you haven’t officially started training stop you from applying.
The track and training for an experienced leader, ready to plant a church in the foreseeable future will look different to the training for an emerging leader still discerning how they are wired. We will create a unique track for everyone.
This program will therefore range from one to two years depending on the readiness of the leader, and will take place in the heart of Los Angeles as part of Vintage. We aim to select a small group we invest in heavily. They will receive a dynamic mix of:
Significant ministry and leadership opportunities
Preaching and teaching
Ministry and pastoral coaching from Vintage pastors
Spiritual formation for ministry
Church organizational leadership and skill development
The program will provide residents plenty of opportunities to do ministry within Vintage Church with our aim being to help residents discern their calling, identify and develop their gifts.
The pastoral residency program will include foundational theological training both internally and through a local seminary if required.
We generally expect our residents to have, or be willing to start foundational theological training. Please do not let the fact that you haven’t officially started training stop you from applying.
Residents will be provided with housing (if needed), healthcare benefits and a modest stipend, the amount of which will be discussed during the interview process. Pastoral Residents may still need to fundraise to support themselves during their time at Vintage.
Singles, couples and families are welcome, as well as overseas applicants.
We will consider any applicant for the program who genuinely believes he/she would be a good fit. Because capacity for the program is so limited, we expect to have to be highly selective. The ideal candidate is confident in their desire to lead a local church and passionate about word and spirit ministry.
To apply please email a resume and covering letter to Beth Pryor. We will review it and contact you if we think that you would be a good fit for our program.
